The owner's manual says (pg. 26) to press the BRIGHT button and use the set level to adjust the brightness. This doesn't make any difference with the AGC turned off. When AGC is on it will adjust brightness, but I don't want to use AGC. So is there no manual gain?

If you are in a dark situation BRIGHTNESS can't be increased. Of course, it can be decreased.

That's what I was afraid of. I hoped I could boost gain, at the expense of graininess. It seems that I can do that in Still-Mode, just not with video.
