Just a short 1:15 HDV clip from a Sony HC5 on the RC helicam. Demonstrating the possibilities of three dimensional camera movement over the linear cablecam.

Are you using a modified MaxiJoker 2 ?

Derek,

Very nice and useful footage!!!

I am most impressed with the smoothness of the the footage, I would have thought there would have been vibrations in the footage.

do you use a stabilizing program???

I can already think of a job for shooting this kind of footage in the dvd I am presently working on.

Dale,

This day the winds were non-existent, so smooth flying wasn't incredibly difficult.

Yes, I sometimes do utilize a post stabilizer. But I try to avoid it by flying as smooth as possible.

Vibration isolation is the crux of RC heli video. I have a camera mount that does quite well at isolating vibrations. And the electric heli is by nature, quite a bit more smooth than a gas helicopter.

Very nice shots :)
Is it possible for you to post a picture of the heli+camera monted?
Also the spes for the heli+camera?
I would love to try it out.

That is some great footage Derek, you must be pleased with how it looks.

Really nice stuff. It looks like gyro stabilized footage and gets
shots that a real helicopter can't.

I would also like to see a picture of your rig in action.

What kind of day rate do you charge?

I have been looking for a solution like this. I am very interested in pictures of this as well. Any details would be great.

Excellent work, Derek. What a unique perspective you can get with that set up. I've seen some other RC Heli POV footage on Youtube, but that was more of a capture the flight rather than intentional shooting.

Derek, this is very impressive!
One question, when you fly and record, are you able to view/monitor the picture (by wireless) or do you simply fly your engine and record "blind" (you get what you get!)?
I'm asking this because I'm interesting in some special footage for a project I'm running.
I've send you a PM Derek.

Thanks for sharing!

Edit: Derek, I'm not able to send you any PM! Could you please contact me at firmapost@video-film.no

7" screen pics up the image via 2.4ghz video downlink. The camera gimbal is operated by a seperate operator via remote.
