I am doing the dolly set up on the digitaljuice site..and would like to know what the wheel diameter was. There are 64 and 70 mm wheels.
Anyone know?

I thought about going with maybe even just regular roller skate wheels. If I find a cheaper set.

When I build my doorway dolly I used skateboard wheels.
When I built my Mini-Skater dolly I used 72mm inline wheels.

They come in many diameters and it honestly makes no real difference. I would use skateboard rather than inline skates as they give you a greater tolerance on what size track you can use the dolly on.

skateboard wheels is what they use on the professional doorway dolly right....I've rented that one a couple of times... yeah it does seem like it would give more contact coverage on the surface....

I've got 2 days to get this ready for a shoot....guess I'll use what is on the shelf at walmart....

If you go to Walmart looking for wheels, you will probably only find them on skateboards. You will need eight wheels so that is two boards. Even the cheapest boards for little kids will work very well.

When you take the boards apart, don't loose the little spacers that are in between the wheels bearings. These should stay in place unless you remove a bearing from the wheel.

If you should decide to go to a skateboard shop and buy wheels and bearings, don't forget the buy the spacers to go between the bearings. The spacer rests against the inner races of the bearings and when you bolt the wheel down no pressure is applied to the movable parts of the bearings. If you do not use the spacers you will lock-up the wheels as you tighten them on their shaft.

Thanks guys! Yeah I checked some prices on the lower end skateboards and they're around $15 each....an 8 pack of inline wheels is $23 ...I noticed the skateboards wheels are 50mm in size.... I 'll inspect these closer when I can get them in my hands ...that video was so small can't tell how close the tolerance would be for the sb wheels with the same angled metal brace.

Walmart sells boards for $7-$8 those are the ones I bought, they come with 50mm wheels. Same wheels as the $15-$20 boards.

YES!!! I found those Tuesday and they worked great. Going to buy 2 more boards and have 16 wheels for more support for the next shoot.
