Hi All,

We were recently contacted by our wedding videographer to say that they were about to overwrite the tapes from our wedding and did we need another copy of the video. I asked if I could have it on the tapes it was recorded on (as I could edit it myself).

The tech guy said that it was recorded on DVCAM tape and wouldn't be able to playback in a normal DV camera..

I've got a FX1 and was wondering if anyone else has played back DVCAM tapes in this model? I did a search and found someone who said yes..but would like at least another answer before I tell them I want the tapes instead of a DVD copy...

Yes, i've done it many times. It will work fine.

In fact, it plays back on ANY Sony MiniDV-compatible camera. Just don't try it on any Canon's, 'cause it'll slow down the footage. I learned that lesson the hard way...

Yep! As the guy says. DVDCAM tapes from V1 or PD150 play back just fine on my Sony HC1 (which is not a DVCAM).

The've been really good about compatibility amongst all their cams.
