I'm at a very frustrating place, I've got about 250 hours of HDV (Canon 30F) I captured with FCP 5-6 over the last year. I need to get it transcribed for a documentary I'm working on.. I've got about 1/2 dozen volunteers to do the transcription.. I was hoping to buy 1/2 dozen USB drives and cycle them around to the people doing the transcription.. but to my amazement, two things I am running into a problem with is

(1) Finding a video player that will play the HDV -> .mov (Apple Intermediate Codec) files I have. VLC won't do it, but they will play on my MAC with Quicktime.. but I suspect that is because FCP installed them.. Most of my transcribers have XP Windows boxes.. is anyone aware of ANYTHING that not hugely expensive that they could use to play these files.

(2) Transcription software - I'm finding few to no choices.. I'll ask this in another thread..

simply make a light version of the movies , encoded with something readable on both platform.
for transcription a small picture should do the trick, is it the audio they need to transcript ?

Yeah.. I had thought of that, its just to re-encode all the footage would take about 1000 hours and alot more storage space.. this is kind of a last resort for me... I would gladly pay hundreds of dollars not to do this.. but thanks for the suggestion.
