I don't know and good lavs that don't come with an XLR connector (or at least a LINK that would let them be used with an XLR or with a body mic transmitter.)

Why not get go ahead and get a Beach or similar that would expand your range of available mic options? As you grow your kit, you're going to find that limiting yourself to non-XLR is going to rule out an awfully lot of good gear.

Good suggestion. Either that or get a Rode XLR Converter Plug like the one shown on this webpage if you need this as a cheap connectivity flexiblity option (accessory suggestion for the first mic on the page and also scroll down to near the end.)

Well, I have a ton of XLR mics... well 13 anyway. But no lavs. And being that I don't usually record "keeper audio" to the camera (I use a Tascam DAT if possible) I don't know that I want to spend a whole lot of money on the lav/BeachTek solution. I might just put up a couple of my big ugly large condenser mics and record to DAT. It won't be pretty though.

You don't usually means you sometimes do. It's worth the investment. You'll find you using your recorder less. Especially if you're already calling your setup "ugly". You'll have more options for now and for the future.

I don't have wired lavs. I use an ambient Eumel which allows me to "wire" my wireless lavs. I just plug the mics into the Eumel and go. You need phantom power though.
