Does anyone have a recommendation for a high performance, compact wireless mic system that would easily mount on an EX?

I think any system will either need to mount on the cold shoe OR you need some sort of bracket to hold the receiver. Having said that a lot will depend on your budget.
Obviously Lectrosonics are the top dog,(quality and price) then in no particular order you have the Sennheiser G2 500 series and the AT 1800 series or 1821,22,or 23 (if you want a dual channel receiver). I switched to the AT 1822 and haven't looked back. (1 body pak and 1 plugin with a EMW mic and a hardwired XLR connection for it) For the money IMO they can't be beat. I can run 2 transmitters at once (different freqs of course) and mix them on the receiver or run 2 seperate inputs to the camera depending on what I need for the job. Virtually no floor noise and the receivers have an adjustment for levels. The transmitters can also be adjusted although not on the fly. For my money other than Lectros (which don't offer a dual channel system to mount on the camera) the ATs are tough to beat. YMMV ;-)

I have been using Sennheiser G2 wireless lav mics for close to 3 years now and love them. I have used them all over the world with out any issues. Last week I shot with them in Cuba and was getting some interferance during a 2 camera interview. I just had the receiver scan for a free frequency and then set the transmitter to the one that the reciever found. No more problems. Worked great.

By the way, my EX will ship next week. Can't wait to get my hands on it!!!

Thanks guys. I am leaning toward the Lectro UCR100. I am planning to use this EX rig on the 08' campaign coverage and these are very challenging assignments for wireless systems. I just need something that is very reliable, compact and easy to mount on the EX.

Same here. The G2 is just dead reliable, clients never suspect the audio is anything but wired. I have been dealing with Trew Audio of Nashville to replace the standard lavs with pre-wired Countryman mics, which I prefer. The G2's come with a convenient transmitter hot shoe mount, as many brands do.

The cool thing is, there is a converter, that allows you to use a specific wireless plug-in lav off your wireless using XLR cable. You can convert any lav that would normally plug into the Sennheiser transmitter, to plug into an XLR cable, and get its power from mixer or camera. I get the mics I want for wireless, and can use the OEM Senn lavs as wired. The converter is available through most audio specialists.

I use the Evolution wireless mics and love them, absolutly no complaints. I carry around a 1/4" adapter cable and a XLR adapter. And have never had a time I couldn't tie into a sound board on a show.

Fantastic battery life and easy to use, with great preamps.

Here's another vote for the Sennheiser G2s. Fantastic, especially for the price!
