Does anyone out there(specifically in N. America), purchased the 555 yet?
I see it advertised by B & H & others for less than $9000US...(body only)...& I'd like to hear from some owners if its a viable, (i.e. much cheaper) alternative to the 500. And what, if any are the major differences between the 500 & 555.
Thanks.

I think it actually IS the 500. Just the Japanese version.

Peter,

Watch out because you may not get your 5-Year warranty with that camera since it was intended to be sold in Japan, not USA.

We just put a good FAQ together about this. It's on our site.

Yes .. buyer beware. The 555 is the Japanese version and as a resident of Japan my 5 year warranty is valid. You should be so lucky.
