Hello,
I am wondering if there are some HPX-500 finished production clips floating around?
I have downloaded some clips from people here who were very nice to post some shots from their cameras, but it would be interesting to see some shots at the finished stage, inside a production.
This camera has been out for a while.
I am looking at the Sony EX, but I need a longer lens, so the HPX-500 seems to be a nice value after the Sony EX.
720p 60fps is a real deal-breaker for me and the XDCAM HD 330/350 do not seem to shoot this framerate.
Thanks.

Check out the Hallows Fest on DVXUser; our HPX500 film "The Unawakening" is supposed to be released there today.

Thanks for your post Barry.
Great job on the short film.
I read a post regarding the film by one of your team regarding the HPX and lens breathing.
Could you tell us what lens was used?
The footage looks very refined.
I did not see a lot of CA as is often seen with HD clips I download and look at.
Is the amount of CA maginified by computer viewing as opposed to television viewing?

You don't see any CA because in the HPX500, there isn't any. The HPX includes the CAC function (Chromatic Aberration Correction) and that effectively eliminates just about all C.A. even when using a relatively cheap lens.
Don't remember the exact model number on that lens but it's the bottom-of-the-line Canon CAC lens, without doubler.

Barry,
Your team did a great job with the film! Great cinematography, directing and editing. I do have three questions for you.
Did you use any special gamma settings on the 500?
Did you shoot it at 1080 or 720, and at what frame rate?
Which application did you do all of the color correction with?
Thanks
Scott

I think it was regular cine-V.
Did you shoot it at 1080 or 720, and at what frame rate?
I always shoot at 1080/24pA unless there's a reason to choose something else. LMTF and Unawakening were both 1080/24pA.
Which application did you do all of the color correction with?
I didn't, Jack Daniel Stanley did. He's an FCP user so all post was done on the Mac. I think he used Color for the final grade but am not sure.
