Anyone using any really good editing software that really supports the AVCHD M2TS file format?

I really don't know of anything that is troublefree.

AVCHD, I don't believe, can be edited natively, so everything has to be transcoded on either platform.

Someone may correct me, but that's my understanding.

Vegas 8 works, but no pulldown for the hg10 from what I hear. Only a problem if you shoot 24P and with a Canon HG10.

Vegas 8 and Edius 4.5 will edit native AVCHD on the timeline and on my AMD 4200X2 ( not a fast dual core by todays standards) will play back fine. These NLE's will also manage AVCHD, HDV and DV in a mixed project with DVD output. As an example export to DVD from the Edius timeline to DVD Creator( Edius built in DVD authoring and burning) is about realtime before DVD burn time.

CORRECTION to my above post as I got my files mixed up a bit. AVCHD in Edius takes about 6 times realtime to encode usable but not great. I had mixed up some SD MPEG files from the SR7 when I did the test!!!!! Vegas is a lot faster, will play fine on the timeline and encode to MPEG 2 for DVD in about 2.5 times realtime. Apologies for the confusion!!!

Looks like right now it's Vegas 8 that I will try.

I have a P4 3.06 which manages something like 4fps with AVCHD in Vegas 8. I get around this by using the excellent VASST Gearshift script.
