I really like the matrix style effect in the pic and just wondered if anyone could give me a start on how to accomplish this?

Take a look at the "3D Titles" project (done in Vegas 5) at the bottom of the page on Matthew Chaboud's site (http://matthew.chaboud.com/vegas5/).
He has the veg files there for download.
