Me and my friend is thinking about getting Brevis35 for HPX and HVX.
What is the best possible way to setup Brevis35 with HPX?
Is there a way to connect Brevis35 directly to the bayonet mount of the HPX?

Kaku I think it's a good idea and you would need to talk to Dennis Wood over at Brevis. There is an Oct. 19 mount for Lomo's on the Brevis so it's very likely some other set-ups are available.

Hi Dean,

I just found out they are working on relay lens.

By the way, I have lots of tickets to InterBEE.

How about I drop by and pick one up?

I can give you a couple.

I'm getting the Brevis anyway, I will use it mainly with HVX200 but I could put it on HPX555 if I wanted to since it attaches with 82mm adapter ring.
I also purchased the step down ring for HV20, too. It should be interesting.

I've been thinking the same thing for some time.

I've tried to make it work on a 2/3" chip and it can't achieve decent focus.
That's probably why they're working on a relay lens. Maybe if you had some kind of specialty lens other than the standar zooms it might be achievable but I don't know.

Philip Bloom got the Brevis working with his XDcam. But the point of the relay would be to avoid the cumbersome bazooka look.

Leonard,

I just put it on to HPX555 and found out what you are talking about.
I will just use it with HVX and HV20 for now.
Me and my business partner are talking about negotiating with companies like Zuno to make a relay lens.

Zuno? I couldn't find anything on a lens manufacturer associated with that name.

Jon, zuno is the manufacturer.

I believe Letus is planning on making a relay lens for the HPX500 to the Letus Extreme; perhaps the same relay would work for a Brevis or other adapter...

I don't see why you would really need one as 2/3" CCD's provide decent DOF on their own.

Barry, thank you for the information.
By the way, I just came back from setting up for InterBEE and I passed by at panasonic and didn't look like they had anything for HVX200a.

We just shot two short films back-to-back, one on the HPX500 and the other on an HVX200 with a Letus Extreme. Yes you can get beautiful shallow DOF on a 2/3" camera, but nothing like what you can get with a proper 35mm adapter. 2/3" matches the DOF of 16mm film, but doesn't match what you can get from 35mm film.

And to add to Barrys response. It enables you to use a cheap prime lens.

Yes - being able to use an old set of nikons on my HPX500 would be simply lovely

Since I started off with Pentax M42 lenses (because I have few lying around), I'm searching more on net auctions.
I guess M42 mount lenses are not that popular (?), they are cheap!
So, far I have 85mm, 55mm (F1.4) and bidding 200mm and 29mm at this point. Does anybody have good recommendation to buy?
One draw back is M42 won't offer as much variations as Nikon lenses, I guess.

By the way, to make Brevis work with HPX and Fujinon lens, will the extension tube make it to be able to focus?

You'll probably only need the achromat and maybe one spacer ring.

I will try the spacer ring. Thanks.

It was the same on EX1, too, I guess the acromat is too thick instead of needing a spacer.

Or does the spacer go to the 35mm lens side?

I put the extra achromat ring and another filter thick spacer and now HPX works fine. The whole length is crazy though, wonder how it is going to be with the flip unit, it makes it even longer!
