Is there a video (DVD) educational tutorial which stands above the rest that will teach me the ins and outs of Premiere (Pro)? Something down to earth and easy to follow.

I'd recommend lynda.com. The great thing about them is that you don't have to spend a lot of money on DVDs (if you don't want to) or even pay for an entire annual online subscription. YOu can sign up for $25 a month (without any longterm commitment).

You can do this on a month-to-month basis or if you find you really want to keep using it, you can switch to an annual (cheaper) subscription at any time. I signed up when I purchased Adobe CS3 Production Premium suite and have quickly learned a lot about all the programs, including Premiere. The instruction videos start at the very basic and progress to very advanced and you can choose which ones you want to watch.

What version are you using? lynda.com is a great suggestion. There's also vtc.com, or you can check out this guy on YouTube for free, he has some really good tutorials. Just click on "more from this subscriber" if you want to see what other tutorials he has.
