I've been searching through some of the comments here but really haven't found a good answer.
Right now, I'm editing a movie with a portable hard drive connected to my Mac. I've got about 12 tapes of footage on HD now, and am starting to pick and choose which shots I want.
I still have the originals on tape, but I really don't want to go through recapturing them and running them through JES de-interlacer's Inverse Telecine again.
The optimum solution, it seems, is to buy a second hard drive - but I'm wondering if it's possible to get some more stable backup system - maybe tape based? I'd record it back to DV, but - well, there's that whole HDV/24p problem.
Anyway, what are your ideas?
