Hi

I've just been looking at royalty free clips from Footagefirm.com From what I can tell all the footage is NTSC but I'm in the UK and as such use PAL. I was wondering if it is possible to import the footage into Premiere or AE and some how convert it to PAL for use in my projects.

Is there anyway to do this?

Thanks

Dave

Yes, you can import the NTSC footage into a PAL project in Premiere.
The picture quality will suffer a little bit, but I have done it several times.

Brilliant thankyou very much.

I don't think the picture quality is too vital considering it's the Fireworks footage I'm looking at, and it will only be used in very short clips.

Thanks alot.

If you or someone willing to help you has Canopus Procoder, you can transcode the footage with very good results before importing it into PremPro. I use Procoder for a weekly TV show produced here in the States In NTSC and aired in PAL via sattelite from Europe and I'm fairly please with the results.

One trick that may help a little is to deinterlace the original footage first - results depend on content, do some testing with VirtualDub for example.
