Any suggestions on how to mount an accessory video light and an external mic feeding into a line input, at the same time. Both items (the video light and the shockmount) use the shoe mount on top of the camera, it would seem using one excludes the other, but maybe someone has a work around or a mic/light combo bracket. Thanks for any suggestions.

One obvious solution is to forget about mounting the mic on the camera - it's rarely the best place for the mic to be to record decent audio anyway. Other than that, if you really HAVE to have it there, I'm at a loss - maybe someone else has an idea for a combo mount.

You can buy a simple L shaped bracket that you can attach to the tripod mount via a screw. It has a hole in the bottom so you can affix your tripod plate to. The bracket bends upward and has an accessory shoe on the side for one item, leaving your camera mounted shoe free for your other item.

This is something like what I mean. This one I think is more for stills cameras but there are video variants.

Or you could try this -> Rycote 037303 Hot Shoe Extension Bar:

I have one - it works well, and it's cost-effective.

I have this one which I used with Sanyo HD1 and Canon HV20. It works well if you keep it on the right side of the camera. If you want to use it on the left side the LCD screen is on the way.

Thanks for the suggestions. Frezzi also has a double shoe mount adapter that looks like it would work. I appreciate your help.

I don't know which Frezzi gizmo your referring to, but I have one and it stinks on hot ice. The foot is too thin to fit firmly. There's a screw that's meant to secure it, but it gouges the housing of the camera and works loose anyway. Totally usesless.

There is a discussion of some options in the GL2 "son of watchdog" thread under "mounting multiple mics", one of the links there that I liked (for balance) was:

There are numerous options available, thankfully.
