Hi Everyone:
I need some input, idea's, suggestions, etc. I have a wedding to shoot coming up. In shooting the "First Dance", which is the Bride and her Father and the Groom and his Mother, in the past I have shot them "Freehand" and also with a "Glidecam". With a GlideCam" I like the results however it gets tiring hold the Cam 4 to 8 minutes nonstop. I was thinking about trying the BodyPod by GlideCam to help.

I have read it has it's limitations. However I can't afford a full Body vest. Expensive. I have checked other posts on Bodypods and other stabilizers on this forum. Given these circumstances how would some of you shoot the First Dance scenes?

Hmmm, let see. I've used a tripod, monopd, freehand (very easy with a fullsize camera-rock solid steady and still able to get some dynamic shots) and now that I'm back to small form factor cams I've been using the DVMultirig. It's a bit awkward at first but once you get the hang of it you can produce some very nice results with it. I like the fact that it brings the camera up to eye level (if you want) like a fs rig so I'm not shooting from waist level especially since I'm a bit vertically challenged.
However the monopd has advantages of being able to get an almost overhead shot. The tripod is as steady as you can get and handheld gives the most freedom. If only we could get them to do the dance 4 time and use a different tool each time then cut as needed. One could only dream ;-)
I do like the multirig the best though.

I ahve to agree with Don, the MultiRig is a dream for long event shoots.
I personally love it becuase I can shoot with it all day in any config, even mount it on a tripod if needed for lockdown shooting.

For a first dance I have the freedom to move around and shoot steady moving shots from any angle, as well as being able to move and reframe my shot at a moments notice.

Normally I have one manned camera locked down on a tripod shooting medium to wide shots. I then move around accordingly getting various creative moving camera shots and mix in post.
Sometimes, I'll pull out my stepstool at the edge of the dancefloor, sit on it, and shoot for some low to mid angle shots, get up and move to different location to get different perspective. Even stand on the stool (on the edge of the dancefloor) to get an overhead POV of the couple (altough not as dramatic as being able to boom a monopod overhead).

All in all I use the DVMulit Rig all day long from Ceremony to Receptions end.
