I'm pretty new in audio aspect. I'm looking to buy a shotgun mic for my XH-A1 but was wondering do I need to get an external XLR phantom adapter. Is it really necessary as the mic is already running on AA batteries. Please advise. :)

In this case you defenetly do NOT need a phantom power adapter. Firstly the mic runs on batteries, secondly XH-A1 has 48v phantom power to microphones when needed.
See the mic manual, if it can be used with phantom power from camera without or bypassing batteries, it might sound better with higher voltage.

I got it. Thanks. :)
