Ervin Farkas October 24th, 2007, 06:16 AM Yes, another HDV camera will work - I would stay with a Sony. How did you blow the firewire output? I would like to know what to avoid... Thanks, Martin Pauly October 24th, 2007, 08:48 AM OK, so i blew out the firewire on my Z1 and i was wondering if I could use either a sony HC5 or canon HV10 as a deck for my Z1u. has anyone had any experience with this?Yes, I use a HC3 as my "deck" to capture footage recorded with my Z1U. HDV is HDV once it has been recorded to tape; the transfer into the computer is a simple binary copy of the information that's on the tape onto your hard drive, so it doesn't matter what and how many image sensors the camera has. - Martin Ervin Farkas October 24th, 2007, 08:55 AM HDV is HDV once it has been recorded to tape; the transfer into the computer is a simple binary copy of the information that's on the tape onto your hard drive, so it doesn't matter what and how many image sensors the camera has. - Martin Careful now: there are three flavors of consumer HDV. There is mainstream 1080/50/60i, there is Panasonic 720/60p, and then there is Canon 1080/24p. I took for granted that one would choose a camcorder compatible with the recorded HDV flavor. - Martin |
