I am using a Sony DCR-TRV27 digital camera. I downloaded part of a video I had recorded: it came up at 7 gigabytes and ran for less than 10 minutes. Software was Pixella Imagemaker.

So I switched to VideoWave V.4. When I tried to download a longer video, it would not download and I got a message saying it was larger than the 36 gigabytes available on my HD.

Help!!!

Thanks

DV is 216MB per minute. around 13GB for a hour.

7GB for 10 minutes? Thats strange... somehow you may not have been using the DV codec, uncompressed AVI instead...

Try getting some better software. A good NLE like Vegas 4 costs $400, so try windows movie maker or something.

If you are familiar with your existing video hardware and software, it is far less expensive, if you computer is of recent vintage, to install a larger drive. If what you have, works, then just add storage.

Rule of thumb is to figure 1 gigabyte for 5 minutes of DV video and audio.
