I've had my HD7U for about a month. I purchased it as a second camera to accompany my XH-A1. Being tapeless it seemed like a good camera to leave on a tripod, and not have to worry about changing tapes (using the dc converter of course) while roaming with the A1. As such it does a decent job... EXCEPT: when taping loud live performances such as rock concerts.
Twice so far I've left the camera on stage, pointed towards the crowd, and it "errors out". The HDD doesn't like the vibrations. I've tried turning off the drop detection feature, but it doesn't help.
That said, it does capture some nice footage. I was scouting locations near San Francisco, and didn't want to lug my A1 around the city. The Blue Angels were performing for Fleet Week. The posted footage was all shot handheld, OIS on, 1/60 @ f5.6.
