Brian, my adapter is not the "G" style, that one I think allows for the new style of lenses used on digital cameras that dont have a manual aperature ring physically on the lens. e-mail me if mine is what your looking to purchase. Thanks. I can also send you a pic. if you like.

Jaime, I don't know if you're interested but I have an old VX1000 that is on the fritz that I would let go for a song. By on the fritz I think it has a loose connection somewhere. I have to shake it a little to get it running. But once running it works fine.

This is a used Sony HVR-A1J (Japanese Version, and exactly same specs as A1U -U.S. version. Operating Manual is in English.) in a VERY GOOD condition. I used it succesfully with a vx1000 back in the day, and according to the article below, they are the same weight 3.1 lbs.
