I'd like to view my edited timeline on a old production monitor. I have a Macbook Pro and no breakoutbox or videocard. I have been suggested to use firewire to the A1 and then connect the camera via BNC connectors. The camera would act as a videocard. Will that work? What settings do I have to make on the camera?
Kind regards Erik

This workflow only works if you are capturing/editing in dv - HDV can't be previewed live via firewire through the camera. This isn't a limitation specific to the A1 but rather HDV in general.

I think it can be done with HDV as part of the render to tape process. In other words, you have to render the time line for tape out, and execute the tape out process to the camera, at that point the camera monitors what is being fed back into the camera. But I'm sure your question was for edit preview purposes.
