So i got a quote on the camera and asked for a Pelican 1510 hardcase in the price. They place told me they would not sell a hard case for the camera unless a signed a written discalaimer as dust could affect the camera and moving parts? As long as i kept it in a bag with silica gel i would be fine, but they didnt recommend keeping it in a hard case?
Has anyone ever heard of this?

No one? Well now im confused as to what to purchase next, a bag or hard case. A friend of mine just leaves his camera in the case with no bag, another acquaintance said to make sure it was bagged with silica gel or to use a bag. We will be out on the boat a lot and i would prefer a hard case to prevent damages while its being stored.
Any input?

That's a new one. I have my A1 in a 1510, and I've never had problems.

I think the silica gel is about getting rid of moisture in the camera in humid or wet conditions before it causes camera malfunction
this may have been in reference to you storing the camera on a boat?

Yes, there should be no issue whatsoever with storing your camera in a Pelican case. Many do it without issue. I agree with Trish that maybe his concern was with you taking it on a boat?
If he is a reputable member of this forum, perhaps he could explain his reasoning to the rest of us?
