I'm intrigued about the Redrock M2 device for my DVX.. Has anyone ever used it for a wedding? How much heavier and how much more cumbersom does it make the 4lbs DVX? I'm thinking I can at least use it for the bride's preparation segment and then quickly remove the DVX to cover other things.. I'll not be shooting with an assistant...

I use a similiar device, the brevis, from cinevate.com.

I chose the brevis and continue to use it because of how light it is, how quick and easy it is to setup and take off (which is crucial unless you have many many cams), how well it performs, and how little light it looses. You can check out our blog for samples- nearly every video clip has a good pile of shots with the adapter on a Canon A1.

With that in mind, the redrock would work- just not you best option.

Yeah I used the Brevis for a wedding b4 as well. It wasnt too bad I it had to go without the rails for fast removal. Which the Redrock wouldnt have been able to operate without. Other than that, The M2 is a fine device.

Am I correct in saying that only the Letus product will offer right side up images on the ground glass? I think this is very important for wedding work.

Also, I'm assuming that when using the Letus, you are effective canceling out the OIS on the camera?

You can try placing a magnet near the lcd to flip the image. Just don't get it too close to the tape while you're shooting :)

Hey Sean,

I have an FX1 and the magnet trick certainly does work. That's how I shoot with my M2. You just have to find the right spot near the VCR buttons. Maybe your magnet is not powerful enough? Give it another try.
