I had a friend ask me for more information regarding the upcoming Sony DCR DV200 and DCR-DV100. Does anyone have any more information about this camera such as a specific release date?

Here is some info

Records to tiny 8cm DVDs.
Disc can be viewed on most domestic players. (note 'most')!
Can store stills at 1152 X 864.
USB 2.0 port.

Brad, since they're not out, real reviews are going to be difficult to find, other than promotional type reviews. Are these MPEG2 format cams? If they are, their resolution won't exceed 480 playback lines, whereas miniDV is capable of 540 lines. Then there are also the matters of compression and editing software.
