Here are a few photos of my DIY crane/jib setup.

I used Dan Selakovich's 'Killer Camera Rigs that you can build' book as a good place to start. Especially for the tripod portion.
It breaks down into 4' sections and fits nicely into a case with rollers I bought on eBay.
Right now, it's 12' long (total length) and I'm going to add another 4' section to it, but need to build a support brace with a cable/turnbuckle to support the extra length.
Probably cost me a little over $300 to build the whole thing including spreader and tripod (with modifications per Dan's book)
Now I just need to build Dan's sand bags. Great book Dan!
BTW, that's not me in the photos.
