Talking about dvds,
you must run and get "the french connection", 2 disc special edition.
It is fantastic, the commentary by the director is worth the price a lone, the insights into the process are magnificent.
Like facts, they shot all on practical locations, never set up a shot, used practically only natural lighting, had no script!!!
You got to see it and also watch the facinating 1 hour documentary on the 2nd disc. I have rarely been so impressed.
Ohh the transfer is great also!

Wow. No script, all practical locations. That's like my dream of a production. Haha
No truly. If I had my way, if I had the skills and the people, I would totally do it that way.
I'd have to ask, though, how much coverage they shot. How much ended up on the floor?
I love The French Connection so I will probably pick that one up.

NO they had a script, which the director threw away.
He had the real police officers on location and he would simply ask them what they would say each time, and what they did and so on.
Ohh and it was based on a book that the director never read either.
