This is my first footage using the Letus35FE. The batteries for the GG vibrator were still charging and so the vibrator was not turned on and the Letus was slightly misaligned.

This is 24f footage. I was using a Nikon 50mm/f1.4 for these shots. The SLR lens was set at f1.4 and exposure was controlled using the camera with a shutter of 1/48.

I was essentially testing the Letus and playing with focusing using the SLR lens. I wasn't using a focus assist monitor and found it a bit challenging trying to focus at times (when I couldn't block the sun).

Comments, suggestions welcome.

I know the FE is capable of a much higher quality picture than what I am seeing in these shots. Seems like either your back focus was out of whack or your focusing in general was off ... or both.

I would recommend you invest in an external monitor or, at the very least, hook it up to a high rez computer monitor or TV and set the focus in a controlled environment first and then set the zoom and focus levels on the XHA1...you can easily recall them if it goes off.

I've been meaning to ask here, I don't know what back focus is. I know the camera was focused on the GG (since you can actually see it).

Is there anything specific you can point to where you feel things should be "better"? I could render a small portion of any of clips in a high bitrate if that would help you help me further.

I do find that when I focus on infinity the focus if not sharp but I turn the rign back just a wee bit things at infinity are sharp. If I'm not mistaken I've noticed the same thing with the camera (minus the Letus) as well.

For those particular shots I didn't use (nor did I own one) a monitor but since then I have bought a 19" HDTV (Sharp) that I used as a focus assist monitor. It's a big help especially when the DOF is (intentionally) very narrow.

So does the back focus change from lens to lens? I mean if not then Quyen should be doing this no?
