Hi there,

I know of a friend who does professsinal 3D modeling but they are based in Singapore. Their works are great. You'll have to discuss the budget with them though. They've done some major work for television stations. Look for LIGHTS AND SHADOWS in Singapore. I think the blimp has to be in Alpha channel for it to be keyed out in AEfx.

Nina

hi I'm an independant film maker in the D.C. are and I im need of a director of photography.

P.S. so far I'm making movies free lance and the budgets are miserably so I probably won't be able to pay you in the beginning.

Very important. Listen I'm going to need a physical address in which to send the demo, cover letter and resume to. I got a call from Fex Ex international this morning saying that they handle all international mail for the Post Office. They can't deliver to a PO box, I've been on the phone with them all morning since it was to be delivered LAST WEEK!

so if you can help me out with that we can get you our package. Thanks!

Hallo gang:

I'm heading into another Instant Films (www.instantfilms.tv) weekend, my 10th as a director...! I need some helping hands in the following areas:

Grip/electric
Assistant editor (need to be proficient with Final Cut Pro)
Makeup/hair
Producer/AD

It would be a one-day committment, this Saturday the 20th. I'd probably need the assistant editor on Sunday as well, if possible. The screening is Sunday night, it's a gala affair (400 people) and a party afterwards.

Email me for more info, or post here. I'll be shooting with the Mini35/DVX100a combo, and hopefully Firestore.

best,

Dick Steele

Hi all,

I am a recent transplant to Austin, Texas and am looking around for work in all aspets of production. I have a solid foundation in industrial/educational production, yet would like to move into something that allows for more creative challenges. If any one on this forum has a suggestion please feel free to help.

OK, got the makeup/hair person...

How about this: there's gotta be someone in here based in LA who is FCP proficient who wants to assist me with the edit. Here's what that position would entail:

Sat. (shoot day): capture clips onto Powerbook/Firewire drive starting late afternoon at the shoot location OR transfer files from Firestore FS-3 (not positive yet whether I will have this system in place for the shoot). Organize and rename clips based on script notes and slates.

Sun. (if possible): work with me at my house as we assemble the (hopefully!) award-winning film of the festival. We will have two edit systems available so we can split tasks. I'm also working with a composer, so I will need to spend time with him and have the assistant keep assembling in the meantime.

Sun. night: we rush the film to the LA Center Studios and bask in the glory.

If you haven't experienced a 48-hour filmmaking festival before, it's a rush. And even though I'm one of the organizers of the event, I do honestly think that it's the best version of all of those festivals. We handpick the participants, so the level of filmmaking is high.

With the HD10, I'm shooting a new piece and the intent is for it to be visually stimulating.

Sparing you details, the two "elements" of the piece are "Listen" and "motion".

I have a very talented modern dancer who will be acting these elements. I hope to create a "mystical" environment for him to act in, and I'm looking for suggestions. It will be shot in this incredibly stunning landscape, that I what to transform to look like the film "What Dreams May Come". I understand what was put into that project, but I was wondering if any of you can suggest what may be achievable for me using AE or FCP plugins for motion and visual effects. Can probably do some sort of compositing as well.

Thanks!!

Steven

Hi, all. I'm looking to move to (and work in) New York in the near future, and I'm hoping some of you can help me out. Surely some of you have companies or perhaps know of some up there, and surely some of you who have companies can use a guy like me.

Looking for work as a camera operator/ DP /Videographer. My experience is almost exclusively with miniDV. I am, of course familiar with the Canon XL1s, and to a lesser degree, with the DVX100/100a, and have briefly fondled a PD150, a TRV950 (I think), and the awesome Sony F900. I know the basice layout of ENG-style cams, though I haven't used them a whole lot.

If it happens to be shooter/editor work, that's okay, even though I'm not big on editing. I've got a lot of time with Vegas 3/4, if that means anything to anyone.

Full-time would be excellent, but I won't sneeze at anything.

Links to my reel:

http://www.joshbass.com/Operatorreewm9.wmv

In addtion, see many other samples of work at www.joshbass.com (I personally DP'd and shot everything on their)

In addition, if anyone has any tips on living up there, as far as doing it affordably, thanks.

David Mintzer, a member here, lives up there, and said he can help me out a with some freelance work. I also shot with him down here in Houston, on a documentary about dancing dogs (yes, really). Hopefully he'll say good things about me.

Thanks for future responses to this post.

Hello, all.

I have a project I'm just getting lined up that will be shot on a weekend day in the winter (probably early December). If everything goes smoothly, I will be looking for two GL-2s to be at the shooting along with mine.

I am located in Fonda, NY, which is about 35 miles west of Albany, right on the Thruway. If anyone might be interested, I will pay $100 for each camera for one long day of shooting. (Cash, of course, for your convenience.) Starting about 7AM until 9PM.

As this is a very long day, you are more than welcome to leave your camera. I would, of course, provide you with all my ID, address and info so you know this isn't some sort of scam. If you'd prefer to stay with us on the shoot, that would be great as well.

I'm filming material that will complete a feature, which is being expanded from a short I have already completed and gotten some really great feedback on.

I am asking if there might be any interest, just so I can make alternate rental plans if no one here is in the vicinity or there is simply no interest. If you respond that this might be a "go" for you, that is certainly, in no way, obligating you, as I still don't have a solid date or anything. I just want to find out if I can use this avenue or if I need to look around for other rentals.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Bob,
I appreciate your reply and I have not even considered a gov grant. I have been really busy shooting these last few months, but now that school is back in session I will be getting calls about the club.

I have a waiting list of over 150 Girl Scouts for a video training day that we hope to do in October.

I have never applied for a grant from the gov before, but I will start a search this week. I have been tinkering with the idea of creating a non-profit organization called "Rick's Video Maniacs". Perhaps this will help as I start to apply for grants.
Starting a non-profit organization will also be a new thing for me.
I need to make sure that I can own my present company, and run a non-profit business and not violate any laws in the process.

I have not had much luck soliciting donations, perhaps there are a few folks that might be willing to sell me unused video gear such as SVHS cameras, lighting, monitors...

Any gear you might want to sell for very cheap.

For those who need proof that I really do work with the kids, please feel free to send me an e-mail, and I will be more than happy to put you in contact with some of the folks that mentioned a willingness to be references for my program.

I appreciate any and all advice offered.

Rick, the gov has lots of grant programs. Even the EPA has grants for Environmental Education programs. There is an Federal Agency out in Pueblo, CO that handles a lot of those. Try a search on Google. Bob

Hello everyone,

I'm making a film in baltimore and we want to get a shot where we have the camera hanging off the side of a passenger door of a moving car. This is the perspective we want...

http://cache.gettyimages.com/thumb/E009436.jpg?x=x&a=E009436&b=PDIB&t=1

We're looking for a dolly or some kind of equipment that will be able to hold the camera in this position and keep it sturdy. I'm in the Washington, D.C area. Can anyone help me?

Thanks,

Anthony

A dolly is not what you are looking for. You need a car mount. Lots of those available and they are all fairly expensive. Consider making your own.

Do use a protective lens filter as the chances that a front wheel will kick up dust, dirt, and gravel is fairly high.

Howd it go Charles?

Charles Papert
August 25th, 2004, 03:15 PM
It went well!

DVinfo.net member Nick Hiltgen joined me as assistant editor and did a great job of downloading clips from the Firestore onto a firewire drive, and relabeling them with scene numbers. At crunch time I realized that I needed an establishing shot and sent him out to steal a shot of a house exterior (he had to run away with the camera when the resident of the house came out to investigate!)

I ended up with a full crew of 10, with all of the bases covered. It was a long shoot (we went until 3:30 am) but a good one. The Mini35 is just too sweet, it really is. I love the pictures I get with it.

I gave myself 2 hours of sleep and started cutting. Didn't make the 6 p.m. deadline, but we don't hold the filmmakers to that in Instant Films, it actually makes a bit more drama at the screening when the films are arriving at the last second!

I was happy with the results. There were some extremely good films this time around. I'll post when they go up on our site.

Richard:

We don't have any concrete plans to take our particular show on the road at the moment, although there are other variations on the 48-hour theme that do travel.

Gerald:

Details on our website at www.instantfilms.com. Next show is October 10th, and we have a "best-of" screening scheduled for Sept. 22nd--that should be a great evening.

Hi,

Just wanting to let you folks know if you need any work done or equipment rentals in Thailand and SE Asia, we can help you out.

We have a Sony 570 WSL and a Canon XL1s, both PAL, available to work on any projects as well as a small Lowell lighting kit.

Also, we have a full editing station and sound recording equipment that works especially well for Voice Over.

We have the access to any other equipment that we may not have. I use Thai, as well as ex-pat crews for translation and production support depending upon the needs and budget of any project.

if you have any questions, drop me an email; dlfisher42@mac.com or david@bkkprods.com

Thanks,
David

I am currently in the planning/preproduction stage of filming an indie film on Long Island.

I have started auditions for actors(nonpaid) for the project.

I have one main camera person and a one for backup. The main camera being is used is a GL2 with a Sony TRV-950 to get additional angles and as backup, until we get a Panasonic DX100.

I was wondering if anyone who has their own video equipment or sound equipment would be interested in getting some more hands on experience or just would be willing to donate some of there time.

I'd like to find a sound person, boom mike operator (who has a boom mic), lighting and possibly an extra camera person.

Here is a quick rundown of the project along with the domain for the film.

Non-Union. Director: Hal Wolin. Director/Writer looking for casting for small low budget Independent film.

Shooting will be performed on Long Island, 2 days a week. Friday and Saturday Nights starting some time in mid-late September.

I may need a shooter in Austin on September 10th. It will be a most of the day shoot at a convention, including a couple of interviews. There is pay, but I am embarrassed that it is so little -- $200 plus tapes. If anyone's interested, please let me know. Many thanks.

I'm looking for crew members for a music video to be shot in the DC/MD/VA area on Friday--October 22, Saturday--October 23, and possibly Sunday--October 24. _This is a no-pay gig, but meals and a finished DVD will be provided. _At this point, I'm looking for all positions and would love to have a second DVX100 owner-operator. _Also looking for a producer or other folks to help with pre-production. This is going to be a fun shoot with a chance to bring some of your creativity and enthusiasm to the table. _ Email me at xtol7@yahoo.com if you're interested or would like some more info. Thanks.

Hey Barry, I see how it is, you got a project going, and you don't even tell me. Anyway, I should be able to help you then, though, we'll scheduled to complete the final scene of Bottle around that time. Also, I wanted to know what your schedule is for the weekend of 09/25, that's the date for the one day shoot of The Cemetery see info at www.anthonyfaust.com, I'm producing. My current camera guy has two of the cameras you want I believe. See, you should always holla at your boy! And the guy specializes in music videos so holla at me, and I just will be able to jump and help you out like you did for me.

Don't be a stranger now.

Hi everyone, this is a general post for all the areas I'm looking for help.

1. Looking for a location to use for a Police Interrogation Room, need the location to shoot the final scenes needed to complete my short film: Bottle of Secrets (see preview @ www.cladiya.com) which brings me to...

2. Need help with webdesign. If you visited the page, you can see nothing is up in terms of info. I was able to get to that point with a friend, but got caught up with a bunch of other things and projects...and that's how it's been ever since. And with my film not completed, I'm not really motived to get the website completely done, however, I don't mind someone (preferrably local that's willing to help me out for free or next to nothing)

3. Currently producing a short film The Cemetery (www.anthonyfaust.com) that will be filming 09/25-26 in Baltimore county. I'm looking for a sound person that has their own equipment and is willing to work for free. Meals/credit/copy of work will be provided.

4. Finally, I currently finishing up the script for my next short which is tentatively scheduled to begin filming this Fall. However, Art Direction is crucial in making the story and concept work, and I'm looking for an Art Director/Set Decorator/Costumer etc. Also looking for a co-producer to work with me on this project. I'm looking for people to fill these positions early to assist me during this pre-production stage.

Everyone is encouraged to offer their help, but I'll prefer locally based people, as I've come to learn that meeting are very vital in this business, and the closer your team is, the better for your project.

Please anyone interest should email me kemeson@wrallp.com or kemeson@hotmail.com Let me know what your interests are or in what capacity you wish to offer your help.

Thank you everyone.
