Hey,

Not sure if these are shipping yet, but has anyone used XDCAM and IOHD? We've been loving using ProRes (much easier time in post than with xdcam native) and are thinking seriously about getting one of these for a whole host of reasons. One thought I had, if i had an IOHD connected to my 330 via component out/in would I be able to monitor/ingest on my powerbook via the 800 firewire? Also, how much of a hit (quality-wise) am I taking by using the component vs. using the typical FAM structure via Firewire? Come to think of it, how would I used the IOHD with the FAM structure - it wouldn't work, huh - it's component or nothing on the 330 since there is no SDI out?

Thanks!
Max

How is prores easier than XDCAM native? Don't you have to do a transcode process?

Yes, you do. But, once that's done your color correcting, green screening, etc. goes WAY faster, and in my opinion, looks better, too.

....is that you will lose the file management functionality of the format. Forget the "drag and drop" part of selecting files and simply moving them over to the editor. With an Io-HD, you will have to ingest your clips one at a time into your editor. This may not be a big deal to many, because that is what they have been doing for years with Betacam, and even HDV.
