I'm using the 25p mode with my current Sony V1E, and play it back on PAL HDTVs (100 Hz refresh rate being a multiple of my footage fps). But I'm about to buy a new 50" full HD plasma, and am faced with a tough choice between:
- Panasonic model, cheaper but lacking a refresh rate being 24 fps multiple, or
- Pioneer "Curo" model, optimized for 24p (72 Hz refresh) but much more expensive.
Since I'll be also upgrading to the PMW-EX1 machine sooner or later, and this one offers native 24p, *AND* as we all know the BluRay specs do not include 25p - everything points to the latter choice.
But it's almost 2x more expensive! Can anyone advise on how important in practical terms it's to have a multiple of 24 fps - capable display? Unfortunately, I cannot check it myself, as I have no access to 24p capable equipment.
PS. Chris please feel free to move this thread where you feel it's more appropriate; I started it here because what's triggered my dilemma is in fact the new EX1 camera...
