Hey guys where do you get your DVD covers/boxes looking for something a bit classy than just the white boxes. Anyone got any good examples for their sleeves they would like to share?

Is it just me, or am I the only one who finds the cases linked to above incredibly cheesy, tacky, tasteless and embarrassing in this 21st Century?

Maybe it's a nationalistic thing - different opinions in different countries?

I think it falls into the category of not feeling like you are handing over very much for all that money they paid you. You remember the days of gatefold albums with inserts and coloured vinyl and just looseing yourself in the sleeve notes and savouring every little detail...ok I'll stop.

Anyway.....handing over a couple of pence worth of plastic feels a bit lame by comparison. Yes, I know it's the magic we make on the disc thats important. I think if you make the effort to make a nice personal cover relating to the couple and the day, it looks SO much better.

I think your money would be better spent/appreciated on a nice bottle of wine for the couple to enjoy whilst they watch the DVD.

X2 I'm with you on this. The clients always see my covers before they purchase from us so they are not expecting anything with leather or metal engraving. Just a standard DVD case with a nice insert.

There are some videographers that offer a leather bound DVD album or some other kind of packaging as an upgrade. I think this is a good idea. That way the people that really want those kind of cases can have them. I really believe though that people want the plastic cases. It gives you a chance to show off more work on the cover.

One thing I would like is some kind of clear plastic sleeve. I feel like I'm handing the client one of my used DVD cases. Some kind of sleeve or shrink wrap would give it that brand new polished feel.

You can get a shrink wrap machine fairly inexpensively. I think there are some used ones out there too. I just missed picking one up at the CompUSA store shutdown here a couple months ago.

I order from The Pierce Company. I buy the "Custom View" folio and it's a clean, simple, classy way to present your DVDs. (I don't have Photo Shop yet so custom graphics are out of the question). My cost is about $6.50 per unit.

Id say white simple clean nice design, keep away from those horibble embossed boxes. Get a professional graphic designer to help you with the box art if need be, and use that design as your template for all your dvd covers and on body labels.

I have been using them most of this year now, they are a nice finish.

Just for the record I use clear dvd amaray boxes (half transparent) with a printed jacket insert and print on the disc to match.

I agree that customers want to put this with the rest of their dvds, but always nice to offer the upgrade to some sort of whicker, diamond incrusted option should they want.
