Hi All,

I currently have a high end PC edit workstation (2 x quad Xenon CPU's) with a Matrox Axio HD edit card. I'd like to (rarely) do some 5.1 mixing within premiere pro 2 (soon to be CS3) and also use the 5.1/7.1 speaker setup for other tasks (including a bit of gaming from another desktop PC.

I'm after recommendations for the best type of kit and setup to go for.

My edit PC and Axio is connected via a Behringer Xenyx2442FX mixer and out to a pair of Genelec 2029AL amplified monitors for stereo mixing.

I also had a cheapy set of Creative labs Gigaworks S750 speakers and 7.1 amp which were surprisingly OK for general PC DVD/gaming playback. Unfortunately these have just died after about 4 years of service.

So, I need to replace them but though it may be best to combine all my needs into one set of speakers/amp.

I don't want to spend thousands but could afford a low end budget of say £700-800. Could I incorporate the Genelecs or is it not worth it? Should I be looking at a good consumer 7.1 amp and speakers? Can you get pro level speakers at the cheaper end of the market?

Thanks,

Paul.

Going up the range a bit - I was just looking at a 5.1 set of JBL LSR4328P's.

Would you recommend these as suitable?

Paul,

look at this thread:

There are some opinions about the JBL monitors voiced.
