I've been trying to get thisclose to video something and was looking for tips.

I'm indoors with lots of light using 60i, TV60 shutter speed, and uping the aperture about as high as possible using the toggle thingamabob and zooming in. I get fairly close but it goes out of focus and wish I could get closer.

I'm away now but when I return tonight maybe I'll try 24p, since usually the light is better. Otherwise, any tips?

best,
lmr

Hi Elmer, what you need to do is zoom out to full wide, and move the camera closer to the subject. At full wide angle, you can focus within a few millimeters of the front of the lens. But the more you zoom in, the further away you're pushing that minimum focusing distance. Move the camera closer to your subject and zoom out. That'll make your problem go away. Hope this helps,

Alternatively, have you thought about using a close-up lens? They're pretty cheap and a +3 dioptre will allow you to use telephoto settings to avoid shadowing or frightening your subject.
