Hello,
I currently use an XL1s, recording to tape in the camcorder and firewire to a backup miniDV deck. I use Avid Express DV on a PC based system for editing. I am considering purchasing a Mac (probably Macbook Pro laptop) and switching to Final Cut Pro for my editor. One of the things I would like to do is record direct to hard drive using the Macbook Pro while retaining DV control from the XL1s. With my current tape set up, the XL1s controls my backup deck's recording. I would like to do that with software on the Macbook as well. Is anyone doing this? Any suggestions? I read one post concerning this which suggested 3 products, but the ones that allowed camera control of recording had many features that I currently do not need, making them a bit pricey. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
