seriously in the market for an A1-- but just as seriously i'm a good 2 months from being able to drop cash on one-- i'm attracted moth-like to that rebate though. The current rebate expires end of September, what's your feeling on what happens after? Has Canon ever extended these rebates? Do i need to execute a beg/borrow/steal regimen to snag one now?

And maybe more pointedly, why are they doing the rebate anyway-- something upgraded in the pipeline for winter 07/08? Seems too recent a release for that...

Each product's marketing and rebate policy is independent and will be based on what the competition is doing and other market conditions.

However, with that in mind it maybe worth noting that the $250 GL2 rebates have been in place, in 2-3 month increments, for a long time, 2+ years. No guarantee that the A1 rebate will be the same though.
