The painter poles, when I checked, were way to heavy and too long even collapsed to fit in a car. I ended up going with a lighbulb changing pole. It is light to hold and colapses down to something around 6' with a max of 11'. There is some slight flex when it is fully extended, but not a lot. I use it with an AT897 (11") with foam wind shield in a shockmount and with an AT835b (14"). Jim Michael September 7th, 2007, 05:37 PM A bamboo fishing pole would be light and cheap.
