I am planning on putting together a HDV editing system in the near future. I'll be running either Premiere Pro or Avid Liquid (I am leaning towards Liquid.)

Can I get by on just the minimum system requirements? What would you recommend I buy?

I'd be willing to spend between $1,500-2,000 for everything, including monitor.
