Other than the Apitek?

I know the spec supports it, but all I've seen, and there are few are 1080p AVCHD cams.

No one knows?

I believe the HG-10 will shoot 1080p, but no 720p.

Wish this were as simple as a firmware update.

All Canon HD camcorders regardless of format (HDV or AVCHD) are 1080i.

I'm unaware of any AVCHD camcorders from the major manufacturers doing 720p.

"The HG10 features true 24P, a tip of the hat to aspiring low budget filmmakers who aim for that movie look."

Thanks Chris for your remarks. However, this review indicates that the HG-10 is capable of shooting 24P, albeit at 1080:

That's not the same as 720p which you originally mentioned. 24p indicates 24 progressive frames per second.

You can always convert 1080i to 720p so not sure what you're looking for.
The review doesn't say the HG10 is capable of 1080p. The 24p mode is recorded in 1080i mode using pulldown.

I am aware of that.

24p is always recorded in 1080i with pulldown. True of the HVX200 as well.

Workflow then would be to capture 1080i, and then use Compressor to transcode to 720p/24 with the frame deinterlacer -- which takes a bunch of time.

Wish there was a different solution

They have an even cheaper camera now, I have an thread in news. Kodak has announced an number of models (I think I might have posted in news). Samsung has announced an 720p camera that might have 50/60p, I think it is still on front page of ccinfo.

Digilife has an HD pocket camera.

But I have not seen an 720p AVCHD camera. Hopefully somebody releases one based on the Ambarella chip, which is supposed to be very good in h264 encoding.
