View Full Version : Cineform missed a trick with NEO

I was hoping NEO would preserve original timecode when splitting into scene files. It doesn't!

In Connect, auto scene file detect had to be kept on to avoid audio sync issues, not a huge problem except all timecodes are generated from scratch in each new clip created! This is extremely annoying when your set PA has logged all your shot codes! You have to sit and log all the footage again!

Shame this couldn't have been sorted for NEO!...and it would have been nice to have the choice of splitting into scene files or whole rolls! Why have the option there?

We try not to missing things, but timecode is not supported for historical reasons. AVI has no standard mechanism for storing timecode. If you use our Premiere integrated products (Aspect or Prospect HD) you do get timecode as we created the AVI importer. But outside of Premiere everyone implements timecode differently or not at all.

Thanks David,

That's interesting about AVI's. I didn't know that.

You hinted in a reply to a similar question that you may be doing something about this? How would that work exactly when related to MOV's? Would footage be converted to MOV's?
