I remember a few weeks ago there was talk about creating a large FAQ from all the useful posts for quick answers to questions? Is this still in the works or has the idea been scrapped? I think it would be very helpful.. and it would never cease to grow either, as we could always add on every time a new question pops up.

It's still something we'll likely continue to roll-out on a forum-by-forum basis as time permits. But, as you might imagine, it's extremely time-consuming to assemble and maintain each one and, in the end, the effort may not head-off many of the most common questions from newcomers such as "What tripod should I buy" or "What camera's the best?".
With nearly 10,000 threads and 65,000 posts we've been encouraging folks to use Search.

I understand the idea behind search and the same old questions being asked over and over again. I as a newcomer like the interaction of a live response from someone on what tripod should I buy or whatever. I think thats what keeps me coming back here. Everyone is so helpful no matter how many times a question is asked. I personally don't like the search because it is so time consumming to find exactly what your looking for. When you search it gathers info on a key word and maybe your answer is there somewhere but its like looking for a needle in a haystack. When I post a question I cant wait to see what responses I will get. That keeps me an active member. I wouldn't be very interested in coming here to search archives.
