View Full Version : Sneak peek on the new builds
David Newman August 25th, 2007, 10:09 AM We have been working a long time on these builds, there are a lot of internal changes preparing for things to come. However there are no features in these builds, the biggest change is proper AE CS3 support, and my new pixel formats for the entire Adobe production suite. In the NEO 2K and Prospect 2K line there is extensive support for 4:4:4 with Alpha channels -- this is a first for any visually lossless compression product. Also many bug fixes. This will likely be officially released early next week, but you can get them now.

David Newman August 25th, 2007, 12:22 PM Changes in Prospect 2K, and other packages where feature is appropriate.
• Better Multi-cam editing performance under Premiere Pro CS3
• Holding the Ctrl key at the start of playback with force playback on non-real-time elements (optimized for CS3). Enabling Scroll Lock will make this the default behavior with the Ctrl key acting as a toggle.
• Alpha channel decoding support now within Premiere & AE – CineForm 4:4:4:4.
• AE CS3 importer now works without having to remove any AE components.
• Improve AE memory handling for rendering very large 4:4:4 frames.
• Fixed user control for timecode changing with Premiere Pro CS3.
• Fixed: scaling of HD for SD BMP exports now works.
• Fixed an XDCAM-HD conversion issue for non-English installs of Windows.
• Fix for distorted audio export from After Effects.
• Fix for converting JVC 24p sources in HDLink (broken in 3.0.3)
• Fixed the quality levels controls for HDLink capturing from HMDI cards – every setting was one lower than it should be and Low was undefined.
• Fixed a handle leak in the encoder.
• Fixed for decoding bayer images of difference phases.
• Fixed Windows Media Player under Vista showing weird colors (still don’t use Windows Media Player as it is very slow.)

Are these valids links? I can't get the Prospect HD to work
David Taylor August 25th, 2007, 04:23 PM Prospect HD: www.cineform.com/downloads/ProspectHDv306b136-070824.zip
Stephen Armour August 25th, 2007, 04:24 PM Thanks! Worked fine now.
David Newman August 25th, 2007, 04:48 PM I also fixed the broken link.
Chris Cosic August 26th, 2007, 12:12 AM Great work, thanks.
Jon Jaschob August 26th, 2007, 12:31 PM "• Fixed Windows Media Player under Vista showing weird colors (still don’t use Windows Media Player as it is very slow.)"
What would I use to view my cineform HD avi files with, if not WMP. I don't use vista, still on xp.
Thanks,
Jon
David Newman August 26th, 2007, 05:04 PM Jon, the error is in Vista, so the XP version of Window Media Player works fine. However, Media Player Classic is a very good alternative.

Media Player Classic has always worked under Vista for me. Wayne
Ray Bell August 27th, 2007, 05:11 AM Thanks David... seems to work nicely with AE now...

If I buy aspect today (having try-out -version installed) will I then be charged for theese updates?
Marc Colemont August 27th, 2007, 07:59 AM Hi David, will the 'Alfa channel' only be available in the 2K products?
Or also for ProspectHD - AspectHD?
Stephen Armour August 27th, 2007, 08:23 AM Hi David, will the 'Alfa channel' only be available in the 2K products?
Or also for ProspectHD - AspectHD?
Our question too...would be sad if not. Especially since Prospect was the original "HD" product. Sure hope it's a "yes".
David Newman August 27th, 2007, 09:17 AM All the point versions updates are free, we are working on 3.1, so there will be more free updates to come for some time.
Alpha channel support is only in NEO 2K and Prospect 2K lines as it needs the 4:4:4 encoding engine to work from. Prospect HD and Aspect HD are 4:2:2 color systems. All the original Prospect HD owners (those who paid $2K+) where upgraded to Propspect 2K for free as we knew 4:4:4 was coming, although alpha channel is bonus. Give the 2K line a try to see if you want to upgrade.
The good news for Aspect HD, Prospect HD users, is the new decoder is compatible with 4:4:4:4 files, so you might consider adding a lower cost seat of NEO 2K create your alpha channel material, and cut that with your existing editing license. We will see if we can make deal inviting to you.
Stephen Armour August 27th, 2007, 12:08 PM Okay David, we'll just see how things keep heading and how it all fits in to our production workflow.
We're glad your R&D is paying off with "end-user empowering". As the tech changes, so do our target quality and editing/production needs! Glad you guys are there and close at hand with your products. In this age of automation and faceless multi-nationals, this type of interfacing and customer loyalty keep us coming back.
It's the human factor: You stand out...they don't. Some things (actually lots...) are worth more than money. What you have is like that, so don't lose it.
Most US-based companies have...
David Taylor August 27th, 2007, 12:29 PM Stephen, thank you very much - we appreciate the nice words!
Kris Bird August 28th, 2007, 10:48 AM David, so will alpha support not be available in NEO HDV ...?
David Newman August 28th, 2007, 10:59 AM Alpha channel support is not for our entry level products. Remember alpha channel for this type of compression is very new, and it has no real competition, so it was to go into the higher-end market first.
David Newman August 28th, 2007, 11:01 AM Note: this thread no longer represents the latest builds. Funny how fast things can move.
