On the Cineform web site, on the Intensity page, it lists the processor requirements.

I'm currently using Dual Opteron 3.0 GHz 856 CPUs and both processors are pegged at 100%. According to your site, I should be seeing no more than 80% usage.

Is this normal? Am I going to be dropping frames?

I'm not down converting.

Capturing using Aspect HD 4.3.1 Build 76 HD Link.

Also, is Cineframe 25 only available in Prospect HD with Intensity?

I switched my camera over to 50i and set up Cineframe 25, and I only get the 'No Video Input' message when I capture. However, using Black Magic's Media Express, I see video.

Thanks,

Jim

Are your opterons setup with their own memory. The Opteron design only goes fast when the CPU can acesss local memory. I would have thought 856/256s would be fast enough, but running at 100% is risking. As you are downconverting as Aspect HD will convert 1920 to 1440. You might want to try Prospect HD.

As for the 50i issue, that might be a bug, please file a trouble ticket so support can test that out.

Yes, they each have 2 GIGs.

I tried with a trial version of Prospect, and it pegged out at 100% as well.

Am I missing something, or are the 856 CPU's supposed be be faster than 252 CPU's?

On the Cineform web site, a 252 CPU should only be pulling 80%, so would have expected the same from my machine.

Any ideas?

252s are slower than 856s, at least in clock speed, we only have 252s and 280s to do our testing on. I haven't heard that the extra hypertransport connection of the 8xx series is slowing them down, but something is definitely running too slow on our PC. Run SiSoftware Sandra and do a memory performance test, on Opterons you should get over 6GBytes/s (I seen 9-10GB/s on some systems.)

Well, it says 4298MB on the bandwidth test. Something must be up?
