Off-topic, but I really didn't want to start a new thread for something so small and simple.

Yesterday I accidentally recorded in HDV with DATE REC turned ON.

I noticed halfway through my shoot and turned it off, but I haven't had a chance to review the footage and I'm worried. Did I permanently print the date on the video itself? Or is it like other DSP data that you can turn on/off.

I'm assuming it's not DSP and that it's printed on there for good. If that's true, I'd have to think of a clever way to black it out in post. Any tips?

I haven’t used that function on my v1 but on my other cameras it is permanent.

If you are going to deliver in standard def capture it in HDV then open that clip in a SD time line and then scale it to leave that part of the picture out of frame.

Damn. I thought so. Lesson learned, I suppose.

I was planning to keep it HD. However if I were to downconvert to SD I would still keep it 16:9. I'll have to blur it out or something. Or maybe just deal with it.

if you can frame serve, plugins for Vdub can be used to somewhat remove date/time.
Maybe you can use a lower third or broadcast bug to hide it?
