View Full Version : Hard Drive Requirements for capturing with Intensity Card

Hi,

One more question I couldn't find any posts on.

I'm thinking about going with the Black Magic Intensity Pro card to capture from my Z1U and my friends V1U.

I will be using either Prospect HD or Aspect HD.

I have two 500GB drives striped together in RAID 0.

Will this be enough 'bandwidth' to capture using the Cineform codecs?

What kind of bandwidth/throughput does one need to capture using the Intensity cards?

Thanks,

Jim

Yes that is plenty of bandwidth. The disk speed is needed for multi-layer editing, not so much for capture, which is always a single stream. As very detailed picture from HDMI, or pre-compressed component will be peak around 20MBytes/s for FilmScan 1 -- very high quality. So a single drive will do it.

So I can get this straight.
So a single 7500rpm SATA drive will capture with Cineform NEO HDV through an Intensity card? With audio and extraction?

Yes, a single average drive will be fine, even a fast notebook drive or flash device.

That is amazing. Thanks.
