How do I view the m2t files as thumbnails?

I can view my dv, avi, and mpeg files as thumbnails, but not m2t files.

What's the secret?

I don't think there is any secret. On the Project Media tab at the top under "views" select "thumbnail". If that's not working perhaps there's something wrong with the .m2t files? Do they preview OK?

Yes, they open in Project Media, but they don't open in Explorer, where I need them to open and review them before adding them to the project.
