Eventually got around to buying Neo HDV earlier this week. It's great to finally have an avi codec I can use in different programs that doesn't use up too much space like the Huffy codec I was using up until now.

Anyway, just one feature I'd like to see in HDLink, a variable frame rate capture. Not just for creating slow motion style video, but fast too. I created this clip not so long ago - http://stage6.divx.com/user/Avene/video/1352437/Avene---Fast-Drive I can't remember how much footage I had to capture, but from memory it was close to half an hour. I then had to increase the playback rate to 4x in Vegas which is the maximum, render it to a new track and then increase the rate again to 3x. With another final render after that. So I have close to 30 minutes worth of original footage on my drive using up valuable space, but the final movie file which uses all of that footage only runs for 2 minutes.

Being able to capture at say 2fps, 4fps or something similar would save a lot of trouble when creating speedy timelapse style clips like this and would also leave you with a much smaller file taking up less hard drive space without the need for capturing the full clip. Very much like the HVX200's variable frame rate. Would this be possible David?

By the way, why is there no 50i to 25P slow motion rate change option in HDLink for PAL users? Can this still be done?

The timelapse capture is also technically possible, just need enough demand.

Perhaps not too many people have thought about it before. Would a poll of users help decide whether or not it would be worth the effort if most agreed that it would be something they'd use?
