Hi. Does anyone know where the VTR setting on the XL1s is? The video capture program I'm using is asking for it and I have no idea what it is!
Thank you.
Gilbert

View Full Version : Anyone know where the VTR setting on the XL1s is? vuduproman February 18th, 2002, 02:40 PM Hi. Does anyone know where the VTR setting on the XL1s is? The video capture program I'm using is asking for it and I have no idea what it is! Thank you. Gilbert Chris Hurd February 18th, 2002, 02:44 PM I'm not really sure what you need, but the VTR mode (or VCR mode, same thing) is how the XL1 plays back a DV cassette. The mode is a position on the main power dial switch, next to the "off" position, and the tape transport controls (play, fast forward, etc.) are on top of the camera handle, under a panel door. Hope this helps, vuduproman February 18th, 2002, 05:03 PM Thanks Chris! I never heard of VTR before so it threw me off. I know where VCR is though! Gilbert Chris Hurd February 18th, 2002, 07:10 PM Yeah, it can get confusing... Video Cassette Recorder (VCR) vs. Video Tape Recorder (VTR)... as if we don't have enough DRA's (Duplicate, Redundant Acronyms) already. John Locke February 18th, 2002, 09:38 PM Chris, I thought the actual term was "RDA's." (Redundant, Duplicate Acronyms) ;) Chris Hurd February 18th, 2002, 10:33 PM Well John, I believe they're interchangeable, like VCR and VTR. ;-) Vic Owen February 20th, 2002, 05:06 PM Ha! I was amazed when I found out that VHS stood for "Video Home System", not something cooler or more esoteric like "Beta". I guess if fits right in with the lousy quality! Cheers Chris Hurd February 20th, 2002, 07:27 PM How about this, Ikegami makes some top-of-the-line broadcast camera gear. Very expensive, prestigous stuff... the HL-55A, HL-DV7W, HL-V73... the "HL" in those model designations stands for... wait for it... "handy looky." I kid you not. A rough Japanese - English translation of portable camcorder, I believe. |
