I shot some HD footage on the A1 with plans to downconvert to Premiere. I am trying to setup playback to do just so. I have studied the manual, but on the menu where I am to adjust Playback standard, and HD downcovert....both menu choices are greyed out, and I cant find a way to make them active.

I have been shooting nothing but DV until this project so this is new.

I know it is something simple....but then again so am I.

Any help would be appreciated, as I have three hours to digitize today.

Hi Mike,

Disconnect the camera from the computer and try again -- those options are often greyed out during an established connection. You have to make those settings first before connecting via FireWire. Hope this helps,

Are you in VCR/Play mode when you try it?
I'm fairly certain you need to be.

You were right. The camera needs to be set to down convert prior to connection to the computer. I must have missed that somehow.
